Made in Space
Star Formation is an ambient interactive floor projection which allows visitors to the Made in Space – Your Cosmic History exhibition at Tycho Brahe Planetarium to playfully explore the formation of stars through movement and gesture.
Visitors walk over a large floor projected simulation of millions of dust particles which they can influence with their movement. When particles cluster together, gravity wells are created which start to draw in surrounding matter. As particles spiral in closer, they heat up before the well collapses on itself, forming a variety of beautiful shimmering stars and sometimes supernovae.
The interactive projection was commissioned by 59 Productions to form the centre point of the Made in Space – Your Cosmic History exhibition at Tycho Brahe Planetarium in Copenhagen; an exhibition designed to ignite wonder and inspire people to learn more about the epic story of the cosmos. The exhibition opened in January 2018 and will be installed for 5 years.
